What kind of person is Rainbow Plus looking to form part of their team?
We are looking for people who are:

  • Qualified social workers, counsellor, psychotherapist, nurses, teachers and those who have experience in working with children with physical and learning disabilities.
  • Dedicated, committed, passionate and zealous to work with young people in a crisis.
  • Warm, empathetic, compassionate, able to establish a positive, loving and caring relationship with young people.
  • Able to set realistic firm boundaries and establish a positive routine with young people.
  • Willing to find ways to understand the life experiences of a young person, recognise the impact that this had on them and advocate on their behalf where necessary.
  • Eager to develop skills and engage in a therapeutic programme in responding to needs of young people.
  • Work with a team of dedicated people who are willing to respond to young people in a crisis.

What training opportunities will I receive as a Rainbow Plus Foster Carer?

  • You will attend a 'Skills to foster' course which takes place over three days, which will explain the legal framework and implications of caring for young people in your home. There will be further workshops in reference to Rainbow Plus throughout the year. This will give you insight into what is expected and assess whether you are prepared to commit to the task or not.
  • You will receive specialised training in managing children with special needs.

How much will I get paid to foster Rainbow Plus children?
You will receive professional fees up to £700 per week for a young person placed in your care, plus other benefits.
